It works, but honestly, most of our customers upgrade to a therapeutic foam or deluxe pressure-relief mattress when they order especially for patients spending most of the day in bed, or anyone at risk of pressure sores. Use the 75 upgrade credit below toward a premium mattress, or add an alternating pressure mattress overlay. Three-Position Bed Assist Rails includedTwo Three-Position swivel Bed Assist Rails not traditional full-length side rails. These mount to the head of the bed and can be positioned three ways upright fall prevention barrier, horizontal transfer assist handle, or swiveled backward toward the headboard out of the way for exit. This design is what makes them ideal for a hi-low bed they don't block bed exit even when the bed is at its lowest 9. 5" position, unlike traditional full-length rails that need the bed raised to swing down. The patient can grip them to sit up, stand up, or reposition safely. Configuration Option Prefer Full-Length Rails Instead This bed comes with Three-Position swivel Bed Assist Rails by default they swivel backward to let the patient exit even when the bed is at its lowest 9. 5" position. If you'd prefer traditional full-length side rails that run the entire length of the bed for full-perimeter fall prevention, we can swap them at order time. Important tradeoff full-length rails must be lowered for the patient to exit, which requires the bed to first be raised to give the rails room to drop.
