If you are traveling to Houston for medical treatment — or coming to be with a loved one who is — you are joining tens of thousands of patients and families who make this trip every year. The Texas Medical Center (TMC) alone handles millions of patient visits annually, and MD Anderson, Houston Methodist, Memorial Hermann, Texas Children’s, Texas Heart Institute, and Baylor College of Medicine draw patients from every state and nearly every country in the world.
What nobody tells you until you arrive is how much the physical reality of the stay matters — where you sleep, how you move around, what equipment is waiting at your hotel or Airbnb when you get home from the hospital. That is what this article is about. We bring the equipment to you so you can focus on the treatment, the recovery, or your loved one — not on figuring out how to get a hospital bed delivered to a city you have never driven in. Whether you are at a Medical Center hotel, a downtown property near the George R. Brown Convention Center, an Airbnb in the Museum District, a plastic surgery aftercare suite like The Loft, or a Galveston beach rental.
You focus on your recovery. We take care of the equipment.
Who we help — four kinds of visitors
Patients and families come to Houston for medical care for very different reasons, and each kind of visit has its own equipment story. Here are the four we see most often:
Where we deliver during your stay
You do not need to be at a private home for us to deliver. Here are the places we drop off equipment every week:
A few hotels we deliver to often enough that we know the loading-dock routines: Hilton Americas and Hyatt Regency downtown for visitors in town for a conference at the George R. Brown Convention Center; Hotel ZaZa in the Museum District or Memorial City for TMC visitors who want a boutique stay; The Loft in the Medical Center for patients recovering from plastic surgery; and Rotary House for the MD Anderson patients who have been handed the keys to that building for weeks or months of treatment.
If your accommodation is not on this list, call us anyway. In practice we deliver to whatever address you give us within our Houston metro and Galveston service area, and we can schedule next-day or multi-day deliveries anywhere else inside our full 200-mile radius across Southeast Texas. What visitors most often need
The equipment list is almost always a shorter version of what families would use at home. Three categories cover the vast majority of visitor rentals:
Hospital beds for your hotel or rental
Full-electric head, foot, and height adjustment. Comes with rails and a therapeutic mattress. We assemble it in the bedroom of your choice — hotel suite, Airbnb, or beach house — and pick it up before you fly home. Rentals from one week to several months.
Sleeper lift chairs — Twilight & Cloud collection
Fully reclining to a flat sleeping position. Zero-gravity for circulation. Powered lift to standing when it is time to get up. The chair most knee, hip, cardiac, and spine patients spend their first week in — and the one that often gets requested at Galveston beach rentals too.
Wheelchairs, mobility scooters, rollators, bathroom safety
A visitor who normally walks everywhere at home may need help covering the long hallways of a Texas Medical Center hospital, the sprawl of Hobby or IAH airports, or the uneven pavement around a vacation rental. Rolling walkers, transport wheelchairs, and mobility scooters make the difference between a tiring stay and a comfortable one. Bathroom safety (shower chairs, raised toilet seats, grab bars) can be set up in minutes at your hotel or rental.
We also deliver oxygen concentrators, CPAP machines and masks, patient lifts (manual and powered), overbed tables, trapeze bars, cold-therapy units, and knee CPM machines for post-surgical rehab. If you are not sure what to ask for, describe the situation on the phone and we will tell you what has worked for other families in the same scenario.
Rental terms built around your stay
Most medical equipment companies rent by the month because their customers are at home for the long haul. Visitors are different — your stay might be 5 days or 5 months. Here is how we handle both:
Delivery, setup, in-home demo, and end-of-stay pickup are all included in one flat delivery fee — we quote the exact figure on the phone before you commit, so there are no surprises when you check out of the hotel and need the equipment picked up.
Before AND after surgery — we deliver on both timings
Most visitors think about equipment rental as something that happens after the hospital. In practice, the smartest families arrange it for both timings — before the surgery AND the moment of discharge. Here is how that works for each major procedure:
Specifically, this double-delivery pattern is what we most often arrange for:
Plastic surgery recovery deserves a specific note: a lot of our patients recover at The Loft in the Medical Center, which is designed exactly for this. We deliver recliners, cold therapy units, and recovery supplies right to their suite, and we have the setup done before the patient arrives from the surgery center so there is no scramble while they are still groggy from anesthesia.
What a typical visitor arrangement looks like
Every family’s needs are different, but the shape of the arrangement is usually similar. Here is how one plays out:
Two weeks before the trip, the daughter emails us the dates, the apartment address, and a short description: her mother gets fatigued easily, needs a hospital bed to rest comfortably between appointments, and a transport wheelchair for the long walks inside TMC. We quote the hospital bed, the transport wheelchair, and the delivery fee. We lock in the delivery date.
The day before they arrive, our technician meets the Airbnb property manager at the address, assembles the hospital bed in the second bedroom with rails and the therapeutic mattress, drops off the wheelchair, and leaves a one-page quick-reference sheet in English and Spanish. The family arrives from the airport that evening to a ready home.
Six weeks later, the daughter sends one message: “We are flying home Saturday morning.” We schedule pickup for Friday afternoon. The family packs. The equipment is gone before they fly out, and the Airbnb host is happy.
This is a composite of the pattern we see every week. Specifics change — the city of origin, the hospital, the condition, the equipment list — but the shape stays the same: one call before the trip, one delivery, one pickup, zero equipment logistics on your plate while you are focused on the care.
Communication, language, and paying from abroad
Our site in your language
If reading in English is not easiest for the person making the decisions in your family, our main site — the home page, product catalog, rental catalog, FSA/HSA page, policies, and this Visiting Houston page — is available in nine languages. Click any of the flags below:
Our Houston phone line is answered in English and Spanish. For other languages, we welcome calls with a family member translating, or you can email us ahead and we will coordinate the booking in writing in your preferred language.
Need it the same day you arrive?
Not every medical visit is planned months in advance. Sometimes a diagnosis turns a 2-day consult into a 4-week recovery stay. Sometimes a surgery date moves up. Sometimes a loved one’s condition changes mid-trip and you suddenly need equipment you did not plan for.
For those situations, we run same-day and after-hours delivery across Houston and Galveston. Call (713) 695-4939 during business hours or (713) 321-9500 after hours. We cover what that actually looks like — operationally, with real timelines — in both our after-hours delivery page and a dedicated blog article:

Call us when you book your trip
The earlier we hear from you, the smoother the arrival. If you know the trip date and the address, two weeks ahead is ideal. But we also handle last-minute requests — even calls from the taxi on the way to the hotel. Here are the two numbers to save:

Our showroom is at 4306 Fulton St. Suite A-2, Houston, TX 77009 — a short drive from the Texas Medical Center and both Houston airports. Come by during business hours if you want to touch the equipment before you book, or send a family member while the patient rests at the hotel.

Any decisions about which equipment your recovery actually requires should be made with your medical team — the surgeon, physical therapist, or physician coordinating your care in Houston.
